It’s been close to 10 years since this photo was taken, when my family was told our St Peters home was to be compulsorily acquired for WestConnex.

Councillor Liz Atkins (Greens) and Councillor Pauline Lockie (Independent) will push for reforms to minimise the harm caused by poker machine gambling at the next Inner West Council meeting on Tuesday 6 December.

I tabled the following urgency motion at our Council meeting on Tuesday 9 August, which I'm pleased to say passed unanimously. This followed recent discussions I've had with Inner West Police Area Command about the rise in food theft they're seeing across the Inner West, and Addison Road Community Organisation about the sharp rise in people seeking food relief.

I tabled the following as my last motion for this term of Council during our final meeting on Tuesday 23 November. It puts Council's verge maintenance service on the agenda for the next Budget, given the consistency of complaints we receive from residents over the warmer months, and the costs involved in increasing the service. I'm pleased to say it passed unanimously. As ever, I'd love to know what you think.

I'm so pleased to report that Inner West Council voted unanimously for us to start flying the Progress Pride Flag when I tabled the motion below at our meeting on 4 November 2021.

Following some disturbing reports about ongoing stability and contamination issues at the WestConnex St Peters Interchange 'park', I brought the following motion to the Inner West Council meeting on Tuesday 7 September (originally tabled for 3 August). I'm pleased to say it received unanimous support.

Over the last few months, I've had the privilege of working with the Inner West Multicultural Network on one of its latest initiatives, a campaign called Racism Not Welcome. At next Tuesday's Inner West Council meeting, I'll be tabling the following motion to seek Council's endorsement for this campaign, including the installation of new street signs in key areas.

On Tuesday 4 August, Councillors unanimously supported my motion on continuing Council's commitment to eliminating domestic and family violence across the Inner West, including its call for for us to develop a gender equity strategy to address one of the key causes of this violence. Melissa Holmes, program coordinator at Stepping Out, spoke to my fellow Clr Colin Hesse on his Radio Skid Row show about why this work is so important, how COVID-19 is deepening the epidemic of violence against women and children, and why investment in this area will benefit us all.

Earlier this week, one of my colleagues at Inner West Council, Clr Colin Hesse, spoke to Jeff Angel from Total Environment Centre about the worrying increase in tree removal activity in our area since Inner West Council's controversial new Tree DCP was introduced in February 2020. Have a listen.
